I love this. I just wish they'd shown more of the mechanism. I've built one or two very simple automata but nothing nearly this complex...or clever!
On an unrelated note, the bunnies have had a companion for a week - our next-door neighbours' dog Rosco, an ageing lab-sized dog. Well-behaved and timid, though you wouldn't know it from Augustus' anxious reaction. Snowdon couldn't care less and even sniffed Rosco nose to nose, but not Augustus, the Guard Bunny. The rabbits are in large pens all week until Rosco goes, which is tomorrow morning.

The automaton is beyond awesome--I'm still trying to figure out how it gets the ball from one cup to the other.
ReplyDeleteAs for the bunnehs, sounds like a typical reaction in both cases--sometimes they get along with dogs just fine and sometimes they don't. Mickey's predecessor, Karnage, played the role of "Pez dispenser" for my sister's beagle/chihuahua mix once while she was rabbit-sitting him at her house--Buddy followed Karnage around and ate up everything Karnage...dropped, if you know what I mean.
Mr. Mick, on the other hand, seems slightly less than comfortable in the presence of dogs--although it seems to be more their barking that bothers him than them actually being around him. I think that may be because of his time at the shelter before I adopted him, where he could hear the shelter dogs barking but could not see them.
